本剧根据香港艺人梅艳芳的生平改编。出生在港岛的阿梅（陈炜 饰）自幼与妈妈（娟子 饰）和姐姐（金玉婷 饰）卖唱养家。在警察刘家华（贺刚 饰）的鼓励下，阿梅靠选秀大赛步入星途。在娱乐圈中，她结识新人何耀文（黄浩然 饰），俩人相互鞭策、扶持，终获一份诚挚友谊。日后的阿梅成为港岛百变天后，感情生活也成为媒体津津乐道的话题，但生性豪爽侠义的阿梅从不丟弃做人的根本。正在这时，不幸接踵而至，先是姐姐患宫颈癌去世，随后已成为天皇巨星的何耀文又英年早逝，阿梅的意志几乎被摧垮。正在这时，当年的家华来到她身边，阿梅心感慰籍。可是，更大的灾难向她袭来，她在例行体检中也被查出患了癌症......
