故事发生在抗日战争时期。猎户女儿李杏花（贾青 饰）目睹父亲惨死在日寇屠刀之下，而鬼子又欲行对自己不轨，关健时刻与其萍水相逢的张响（徐僧 饰）一改懦弱的性格，扑上前去砸死了正欲施暴的鬼子。两人双双投奔了抗日队伍。由于自幼跟父亲打猎，杏花有一手好枪法，他们跟王晓宝（焦博 饰）一起成了武工队的狙击手。为报杀母之仇，张响只身赴敌据点射杀日军曹桥本，这让前来执行任务的杏花误为张响己投降敌人，得不到信任的张响干脆加入了国民党军队。杏花决定嫁给王晓宝，婚礼之前她抛下新郎前去营救误入歧途的张响，幡然醒悟的张响重返武工队，这让未做成新郎的王晓宝妒火中烧，他站在了革命与背叛的十字路口上......
