故事发生在20世纪30年代，日本帝国主义悍然发动侵华战争，贪婪的铁蹄无情践踏这个古老的国度和苦难的人民。乱世之中，两个背景全然不同的小人物命运不仅发生改变，还由此衍生出一段奇妙的姻缘。 自幼父母双亡的贼骨头张三（孙红雷 饰）所在的城寨被日本人剿灭，他逃难之际沦为日本的劳工，之后凭借神枪手的绝活阴差阳错加入了八路军。排行老四的李娴淑（海清 饰）出身财迷的乡绅家庭，她喝过洋墨水，美丽的外表下是火爆倔强的性格，为避免日本人的纠缠曾当过国军团长郭闻志（郭昊伦 饰）的未婚妻，但在家国大义下终于和对方分道扬镳，继而邂逅张三，一段军旅爱情传奇由此上演……
