本片改编自程文辉的自传——《失明给我的挑战》。 文辉（刘雅丽 饰）自幼失明，由家中女佣和姐带大。因为眼睛的缘故，文辉自小便受到轻视，而和姐却视她如亲人一般，一直鼓励她，陪伴她，开导她。当和姐得知文辉想要和正常人一样上学读书时，她更是拿出毕生的积蓄来支持文辉。 文辉因成绩优异获得了奖学金，可以有机会出国读书，和姐更是不顾文辉家人的反对，一如既往地支持着这个坚韧的女孩。影片的结尾，当文辉在机场和家人同和姐依依惜别时，和姐终按捺住了搀扶文辉的冲动，与她含泪道别……
